Tisbury Dental Centre was established in Tisbury in 1974 by partners Dr John Barton and Dr Jane Bullimore. In this time we have grown into a prestigious family practice with an excellent reputation, offering advanced and specialist treatments. At the beginning of 2002 we opened our new surgery, helping us to give you dental care in the most comfortable surroundings.

In October 2006 Jane Bullimore retired after forgoing long medical treatment. She is now well and enjoying her retirement in Somerset.

The 18 strong team is led by Rebecca Davies. The clinical environment is specifically designed and equipped to provide implant based reconstructive dentistry with a strong emphasis on cross infection control.

We are a referral practice for Implants, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Sedation and also offer general family care. We as a team gained the ‘BDA Good Practice Award.’ This is an award given to practices by the professional association, who show their commitment to their patients.

All our hygienists work with the surgeons to maintain ‘Healthy Gums’, and gives extended treatment for periodontal disease. They will provide advice on oral hygiene and prevention of disease as well as breath odour. All our hyigeinists provides fissure sealants for children’s teeth.

Care team

Rebecca Davies RDN CDPM – Practice Manager
Rebecca joined us in in July 1997 and passed her National dental nursing qualification in June 1999. She later became interested in practice management and using her nursing skills progressed to become our practice manager. In November 2002 she passed her level 4 Btech in Practice management.

She is also an editorial member of the ‘Dental Nurse’ Magazine which has over 2500 subscribers from all over the country.

Rebecca still enjoys nursing on the odd occasions and also organising our practice events.

Dental nurses

All our nurses are qualified registered dental nurses. We insist our staff are up to date with all aspects of running a professional practice and regularly attend training sessions and seminars in accordance with their GDC registrations.

We have nurses who have attended SAAD sedation courses and Branemark training for implant surgery, radiography training and oral health care training. We also have regular internal training for all staff in Health & Safety, First Aid, Cross-infection control and team building. All DPC (Dental Care Professionals) have to gain 150 hours CPD (Continuous Professional Development) hours to meet their GDC requirements.

Hygienists

Jenny Pearce EDH
Jenny has been working in dentistry since 1986, originally starting off as a dental nurse and working her way up to be a practice manager. Jenny then returned to Cardiff University to complete a 3 year course in Hygiene and qualified with distinction. Jenny has been with the practice since Sept 2005.

Val Cockell EDH
Val also has been working in practice for many years including a periodontal specialist practice. She joined Tisbury in 2005. Val also has a special interest in Homeopathic treatments.

Abi Brake EDH
Abi has worked in dentistry since 1998 gaining her National Dental Nurse Certificate and then further advancing her studies and Cardiff University where she gained her Diploma in Dental Hygiene in July 2006. Abi joined the team here at Tisbury in April 2007.
